Re: Nothing In Particular

Just think of the scenario if this rare weather situation occurs in 10 years when everyone has heat pumps and electric cars.... I wonder what the issues are with the HV grid - is it lack of maintenance, ensuring trees cannot hazard cables etc, as the pylons and cables are designed to cope with real...

Re: Millett LR + TP Opus + AMB α24 reboot

Also ceramic surface mount caps are better at decoupling that through hole caps, less lead inductance.

Re: Millett LR + TP Opus + AMB α24 reboot

Can't see any 100n caps decoupling each chip's Vcc/Vdd - well, there are no chips as such, but decoupling pins 1 & 2 of J1 would be a good plan. Crowbar (diode) between pins 1 & 2 of J1 as well, plus possible tiny power LEDs for both usb & iso sides. No need for decoupling Nick, that'll...

That would be "As Nick said he did try the Lowthers without the 5.2mH inductor but we later fitted a smaller 4.8mH inductor"

Re: Owston meet 27+28 Nov 21-add your name here

Those drivers look nice. Yes the tweeter was coming in at around 6k I believe. Though later we tried the lowther without its series inductor. It sounded less shouty than when I first tried it but the drivers have a few more hours on them now. We then tried a smaller inductor and I think it filled a ...

Re: 801a amplifier

Sitting here in dark as we still have no.electric. looked up the spec and had a penny drop moment. The phase of the windings is as you thought Paul from what is printed on the top. The problem was our lack of thinking. In the primary the end at b+ is in effect at ac ground. The other end on the driv...

Re: Pre-Owston Natter 26th Nov

I to am using my solid state amps to warm the workshop. I was unsure about the cost, but thinking about it, they are close to 100% efficient (at generating heat from electricity) unless they are playing music.
