Re: Salad Bowl Speakers

I used 3 blank dice on a board to support the speaker bought them in a craft/DIY store. Plus a bit of blutak to keep them in position. I have no idea why you would normally want blank dice.

Re: Ikea salad bowls

Picalilli on the outside with the cheese in the middle. If you use Emmentaal you will have ready made ports.

Re: Ikea salad bowls

Point to bear in mind with the salad bowls is that they are not necessarily hemispherical nor perfectly identically circular at the rim. You may need a sandwich filling but you can hide any ports etc there. This is me going back more than 10 years to my blanda build; still in use as computer speaker...

Re: Is 51 mins too long?

saw Schofield live at the Barbican years ago but left very early on as the lady I was with at the time said the music was just a load of indecipherable guitar noodling…..
I saw him in Leeds and also left....and I'm no lady.

Re: Positioning of external xovers

I have a pair of WAD KLS2 with crossovers, or more accurately tweeter filter as the woofers run wide open, parked by the amp. Came in very handy when I had to tweak them when I replaced blown tweeters (curse you Sugden A48 switch on thump!) with Monacor RBT-95s. Much easier than poking around heavy ...

A question which arises for me is are either of them adding artificially to the sound ? i.e. is the naim bringing out the rhythm and is the SET bringing out more tone/detail than if i could create some kind of completely neutral control amp ? This is the nub of differences/qualities in music reprod...

the toy xylaphone the kids played rang out in the living room along with the hi fi, but the hi fi sounded flat.. now I recon'd the toy was crap compared to real instuments.. so what was wrong.. Aye. A two year old whacking a toy xylophone puts paid to the Pace Rhythm and Timing school of thought. I...

Ideally something that allows me to relax, without constantly finding fault with it. I want a system that I can listen to anything on, and it'll always sound at least half-decent; even the really rough recordings. Wot they said. I think the key is "relax". It's the music's job to be excit...

So now I can drive a V12 E-type on the road with no brakes or tax or MOT legally?
Brakes, man. Who needs 'em? They only slow you down.

Mr I., what was in the vinyl section?

I was in Morrison's in Leeds once when they played an orchestral cheesy listening version of Randy Newman's Short People.

I used to be a phone monkey. The question all callers should ask themselves before kicking off is "if this person had any power to change anything at all about how this company was run, would they be answering the phone to me?" Your task is to make common cause with the the downtrodden cal...

loved the straight looking balding middle aged chap and his missus in an ordinary semi cutting some heavy sounds... Me too. Thought there were some very elegant older dudes waxing historical. Bit too much emphasis on what was in the charts, though but. One of my own particular faves from that era i...
