Yes I have cold Snap, it is iconic of it's era. The quality of the electric guitar is in the same league but of it's own genre as Hendrix is of his genre. the whole albus is tastefully put together and skillfully recorded, something which is long lost. the pace of the music is like a metronome, it i...

Clive wasn't having a pop at anyone here or at this place. he was having a pop at the diy'er who won't listen to constructive criticism and also won't get out of his own four walls to discover what is out there. That doesn't mean you or me Andrew it means that person whom the cap fits. And that pers...

#i too think these things are the worst snake oil. Their claims would be the dream of any manufacturer who has far larger R and D departments to create this configuration if it is genuin. They haven't but some two bit marketing gangster has?

Mine was built. I suppose when I do break out from the DAC I will just solder to the resistor leg and cut the track to the opamp (which can later be bridged if required). Thanks for the warning. Maybe better to buy a kit for the version which takes out from the DAC. Maybe when Clives DAC arrives thi...

Yep. Mine has been changing since i first plugged it in. I was a bit unimpressed at first. Supposed to take 100 hours or so to run.. i reckon you can almost double that. Mine is sounding well balanced with good bass now(never used to). I won't do any upgrades till i'm sure its settled down. you are...

Just thought. If Paul is finding the board has a noticeable running in process, and Ali has reported the same. It begs the question as to the effect of the posted upgrades to the board. Yes, I thought that also. Like everything we can do those things which are our favourites and ignore what we wish...

Inverted operation menas reduced output impedance and linear perfromance but lower power so requires a lot of valves, but miller capacitance is also low as no gain. I always meant to build it. If I ever do you will be the first man I send it to Clive. knowing steve, knowing the 5687, knowing single ...

The proof of any pudding is in the eating. We'll see. When I send the 1541 DAC up to you, listen to it and comment before you open the case and look inside. ie. leave any prejudices at the door and approach with an open mind. ;) OK Not familiar with it. Got a link? OK http://greygum.net/sbench/sben...

Back on track, today having just turned on the DAC for the first time it is sounding as good as it was yesterday right from the start. This burn in thing is an odd one isn't it? Some days you think "hay this is rubbish where has it all gone, other days you are in heaven." I have heard it t...

I know what it gives up in the real world compared to what is possible if there are no constraints. The answer: nothing that I can hear! Well we were planning a shootout of power supplies at the last meet but any volunteers including myself ran out of time and impetous at the end. Mike has devised ...

OK. I'm a bit lazy so to leverage the work of others, especially when it comes to PCB's.... I'm all for it. I know the fealing. I wouldn't personally bother with the expense of a Tent supply of indirect valves though. I like most indirect valves with AC heating but never from the same transformer a...
