Sad innit ! Need to get cutting, drilling, filing, bleeding ...

Is there any problems with using a bigger wattage resistor than specified ?

As an example-I was looking in the spares box for a 100K grid leak resistor and found a packet of 100K 5W power oxide resistors.

I might try this idea in the new case first, using the C3g front end.

Would i need a grid leak resistor between the 0.22uf coupling cap and the two 832a grids ? If so what value ?

I am bidding on some heatsinks on e-bay.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0332203851

I will not want more than 4 for my project so if anyone else wants some let me know.

I have not decided my "max" bid yet.

Now that so much effort has been expended on this matter (thanks DTB as well) i should use it for something myself ! Anyone got a pair of 826 triodes ? ...

Did you realise I had added extra info to my previous post ?

As it happens,I have a few 18v transformers to hand so a small one was connected up as suggested, this gave 20V and see the piccie for the results

Right-here is a pictorial view of the errant transformers wiring ! http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n146/pre65/Transformerwires001.jpg I am coming back to my original opinion that perhaps the Red/Yellow/Green side is the secondary (HT-5V-6.3V ?) but from my previous attempt with powering it up tha...

Mike H wrote: Assume the two greens are the rectifier heater cos they're thicker.

Implies therefore that the two reds on the 'greens' side is the mains input.

!
The two greens are joined together and insulated,so don't go anywhere as such.

I will do the diagram using the new thinking on Monday.
