I personally think that Alex is on to something special with the RH series of amplifiers. Yes....and I should stop desecrating their purity and diluting their aims and objectives by hanging PP crap all over the concept. It's OK Alex, I won't ask you to associate yourself any further with this abomi...

A loaded question that is!
Did you know. If you connect your input to the output and your outputs to the input it still attenuates but don't sound right good. If your power connection is unrelaible and goes off you get a sound which doesn't alter with volume control, like a bad PP 6550 kit played through a pair of pc speaker...

The human race is predictable - just the individual not
Just FYI what Nick said, doomed to failure, the implied promise that while all other fora (?) on the subject are broken never fear all the correct answers will be in this one. Just sayin', good luck to him but may be interesting how it turns out. Like every other blog, they will have their small gr...

Feedback is not the devil that stole our dynamics
I think that feedback gets a lot of bad press - even although it is the most basic of mechanisms - even for our own lives. In the case of amplifiers, no feedback has one advantage that is a curse at the same time. With no feedback, the driver presents a load directly to the output stage that can be ...

Smokers should be asking the same question......
Food and cigarette smoke are the biggest sources of cadmium exposure for people in the general population. Smokers may receive twice the daily dose of cadmium as non-smokers. Small amounts of cadmium are found in fruit and various drinks, whereas leafy vegetables and potatoes contain greater amount...

Being a dog can have its advantages
We get thrown OUT of forums or get divorced for being bighty. Dogs get to choose if they want to stay somewhere by being bighty (or not). I wish you all a long life together! Let see what you learn from the dog....... He was taken back by two family's for being bighty. But so far we have it under co...

so fundementally different
SE and PP HAVE to sound different! I do not think that many will disagree that we, for the most part are istening to the power supply more than anything else. A good SE amplifier has a low PSSR ratio, nothing cancels. In a PP amplifier, many attributes of electricity cancel due to the balanced archi...
trashing the Fluke may not be such a good idea...
This looks like a real cool thing. By the time it is ruggedized and hooked to a mobile telephone that also can withstand the issues found in the field, some may prefer to keep their Flukes........ In any case, a very sensible idea and if it can keep all of the promises at a decent price, I am sure i...

Re: More horsepower than live!
No, no, no. I am not suggesting anything wrong with the amp, instrument or playback. It is just when you HAVE the power you tend to USE it and that would make for a MEGAOBOE at levels normally attainable by a trumpet (my instrument). Yes, but I am even more familiar with the oboe and recording it (m...

Horns are primarily Equalizers
An exponential horn has "gain" only for a decade - about 3.5 octaves. That gain is also not flat or uniform over the whole decade. A horn with that length would probably have that decade be around 20 - 200Hz. Above that, it acts like a bad transmission line and would have a lot of HF refle...

Breaking the law?
I am not sure about the UK, but elsewhere there are certain rules for using material on the web. Generally I do not cut and paste stuff that belongs to others. I only insert links to the original. If there is no 640X480 original, then I link what there is available. I will look for smaller versions ...

Blowhards beware
You feel it more than hear it. It really does work and is much more compact than a woofer moving a comparable amount of air. I am not sure about aligning it for phase however. The pitch of the propeller changes with the music. If there was DC in the output, it would just blow. The upper range is lim...

Yes. I just put the Dyna XX-2/II on the arm . It sounds 'HiFi' :( If you look at the trace you can see the supsicious 'lift' from 15kHz to 20kHz . Probably a sign . Why are so few cartridges flat in the the upper HF ? The XX-1L is very good and pretty flat up there and it sounds a lot better . Ho h...

Re: More horsepower than live!
Mozart, Oboe concerto in C major K314. followed by R.Strauss, Oboe concerto in D major. Using 833a. :) With the 833a you were listening to the OBOE CONCERTO Might have well as played it with a trumpet......... Now why would you think that ? Are you conversant with the 833a sound ? Yes, but I am eve...
