Hi Clive,

Very many thanks for your observations and I take note of what you have said. No doubt, once I start work on the kit my questions will follow and I much appreciate your willingness to be involved. The iron is waiting and watching. So am I :D

Regards,

Greg

Yes, that R-core is fine.

Thinking about filament current.....
1x EZ81 @ 1A, 2x 6N6P @ 0.8A, 2x ECC88 @ 0.3A = 3.2A.

Looking at the 6.3V windings..... So you have 2x 3A windings. I'm not quite sure what the deal is with one of them being connected to the PSU board and then the series connection (12.6V) going to somewhere off-board. I'll assume that the 12.6V is being used to supply 2x ECC99's.

I'd be inclined to put the 2x 6.3V windings in parallel for a single 6.3V @ 6A winding, rectify for the signal tubes and leave the EZ81 running on AC.

Having 6A to play with gives you a little more flexibility over the 3.5A of a Hammond 370DAX, when you need to derate by x1.8 for AC->DC. You'll need ~5A if you go that way, so I like the fact that you have 6A to play with.
THANK YOU that's the tranny sorted  (i was not going to wire it as the in the photo i just used it to convey what i had in mind) ive seen modules for heater supplys but poss a diode bridge would do

and you recommend a ccs for r3 i now what one is, but no idea how to implement it ! still that for future tweaks

At 0.75W a IXCP10M45 will be at about 80C, I would suggest a clip on heatsink or bit of Ali at least.
