Anyone catch the BBC1 news last night? (I only did by chance as it happened)

The peasants are revolting!

They want more wages and workers' unions.

In China this is.....

Get yer Chinese valves now before prices go up

Or much else made in China for that matter. Cited "trouble spot" factories include those for flat screen TV's, mobile phones, bits for Toyota cars, can't remember what else.

I was looking at tig welders on e-bay (again  ) and the Chinese ones are still listed as 220V.

One UK seller of Chinese tigs listed his at "220V +/- 15?"

So does he not know ????

Sounds like a tolerance, which is quite feasible

Oh I see, dunno then! Unless he's wondering how well it will match to 230V :?:

I'm doing it now

#1. The Internet is working at the moment!

#2. When I wss coming back from Owston last I happened to notice that one of my favourite touring roads was cut in half by the removing of roundabaouts from the A1. This is the B676 from Melton Mowbray to the A151 to Spalding.

Just went on Google maps to check this out, and indeed although it's still the old photo, the actual road plan superimposition shows two new roundabouts and an overpass loop road so you can still get across.

I should hope so.

The saga continues! Well it was until Friday evening when router had to be restarted 3 times to get it back.

Working perfectly Saturday until 1pm then just stopped. Got it going again then e-mailed ISP about it (I am "monitoring the system")

Had a doze after lunch then they 'phoned me back suggesting set two DNS addresses for Internet connection via control panel (otherwise "automatic"). All seems hunky-dory.

5:30pm, everything off! Bonk just like that. Can't load ANY web pages, not even the router's own (it's got it's own URL)

Tried undoing the DNS address changes, no effect. Still can't access router.

So then tried a system restore back to the beginning of last week (earliest available).

Been alright ever since!

The restore also means undoing most recent Microsoft upates, I wonder if there was something in there been messing things up?

When the updates came up again I just chose the bare essentials.

I hate automatic updates, I don't like the idea of the machine being "messed about" once I've got it working the way I want. That's why I "vet" all updates.

About 2 weeks ago there was one for Firefox, this bastard caused all windows to be unrestorable if minimised and unswitchable between once IE8 was running!

Yep another system restore fixed it
