I was there 2 or 3 year ago. Certainly different since the first time around the mid 1970's! I was intrigued by the 'talking horses'.

The two heaviest tanks at the museum weigh 78 and 80 tons - which country built them?
I'll make a guess at Germany ... :?:

Of course!

There's even a song about it, and the band are even wearing tank tops.

Sorry, I couldn't resist!

A safe guess Mike, but wrong, they're both British.

What a great start to the day. One cracked fishtank, one flooded bedroom, and a lot of ruined electricals. Kids tv, ps4, lads phone, allsorts of other things, ruined.

Had enough. And its not even 6 am

Sorry to hear about your bad start to the day Ant - hopefully things can only get better for you.

Were the fish making a break for it?

The fish are in plastic buckets for now, they are going to have to go in a big clear plastic box until i can get a new tank
That will have to wait until ive taken everything out of the room that is piss wet through and sorted it out, and used the carpet cleaner to pull was much water as possible out of the carpet
At least it is the fresh water tank and not one of the marine tanks so it doesnt stink like grimsby docks

Every year just before christmas there is something
Last year the oven packed in, the year before it was the washer that packed up and flooded the kitchen a week before, the year before that the kids computer packed in 2 days before christmas.

Day just gets better and better
Carpet cleaner seals have all perished so it wont pull the water out of the carpet, its an old model so the seals are not available. So that needs to go to the tip. and one of the wifes older guinea pigs has died

Ant, I feel your pain. Fate seems to have a particularly cruel trait of piling up the misery when something goes wrong.
Just over a week ago, I had to agree a time for my mum to come out of temporary care with staff for a home visit/evaluation, which we did yesterday pm. That was already stressful enough to have me off work ( again ).
So, about a week ago, the central heating went down.
Despite a lot of help from the neighbour to arrange and expedite contractors, the repairs hadn't been quite finished when I went up. The house was so cold from the weekend when i arrived, that all the windows and porch, and front door were coated with condensation. I went inside and it was colder than outdoors. Luckily I got the front room habitable with help from the one gas fire that's in the house.

I see a lot of unfortunate people are still without power after the storm. :(

Has our Nick got power yet ?

It came back Sunday evening so I missed the worst of it.

My parents were off until Monday evening. Thankfully they have a wood burning stove.
