I'm getting a cheap tablet from daughter number 2 for my birthday.
Laptop had died so i fancied a change. Wife has a laptop if i need one.
Wondering if a tablet could be a convenient music player.
I know it can play files from a SD card, but could it play my Flac files which are currently on external hard drives?
I know it is going to be running Jellybean 4.2 and has an OTG cable.
Don't have much experience with Android stuff.
Android music source?
#1 Android music source?
Much to learn there is.

Never tried it Al but I don't see why not. I can play flac on my Android phone which is running ageing 2.3.5. Sounds pretty good, I actually used it as a source a couple of Owstons ago.
If you have your music on a NAS drive you can play music from that too using DNLA - something like BubbleUPnP, I'm sure there are many others.

Cheap Android tablet arrived.
Recognises a 320gb hard drive and plays files.
But........
Don't think tablet usb port has enough welly to power the hard drive, as the connection sometimes drops out.
Decided to transfer files to SD cards and play music from there.
Less cables and less fuss.
Sounds ok through headphone/line out, but would be better if I could use my usb dacs.
