Sorry for the delay - seems like literally just a couple of wires, that go to the starter relay - the starter motor is scrap tho - new one fitted last week (which I am told is much more betterer, plus with new {thicker} battery cables (made by me) added, it spins the engine much faster than the original one has done for a long time, sometimes it used to 'gag' on the compression - so it's all like an upgrade anyway, kind of thing, so what's not to like)
I have been going over all the lights and improving the fittings and connections, most of the bulbs were loose and rattling about, (I had fitted all LED 'bulbs' over a year ago because of finding a filament failing (glass going black) due to bad intermittent connections - the LED blubs aren't so precious).
Similarly, I had the handlebar switches apart for switch cleaner and WD40, and electrical grease around the joints on reassembly. The housings are cast alloy and so I still favour a theory that water got in them and created shorts to ground. On the right hand side, this would be the starter button; for the left, the indicator switch. After the first soaking, the flasher relay would constantly click all the time the igniion was on so obviously a drain to earth somewhere. (It was the second soaking on the second day that did for the starter motor and battery leads.)
Next I want to remove the headlight to look at the wiring behind there, lots of multi-way connectors behind there which I want to check. But I keep being interrupted by other things so it's been a slow job. E.g. today has been all about hedge trimming.
