The Pi 4 8Gb was announced last month (see earlier in this thread).

There is still no native USB MSD boot available for general release - it's in BETA only. See the official Pi forum thread on this at https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/view ... 3&t=277413 and is also mentioned earlier in this thread.

I've been testing the BETA for several weeks and it's definitely not production ready. The third iteration of this code, which came out on 15/06, fixed a number of bugs, but it's still very much in BETA and hasn't even made "STABLE" yet, the phase before general release known as CRITICAL (the release update mode that all Pis ship with and which 99.999% of Pi's stay with).

Maybe should start a thread, but not sure if anybody has any input...to:

has anybody added a pi 7" touchscreen to picorplayer with jivelite interface??

if so would you know if there is an interface to feed a remote signal from an IR circuit...in order to scroll and do volume etc...

I have done some googling but thought I'd try and cut corners here....googling is getting very frustrating with all the noise these days.

Not tried it, but really interested! This is a good place but there's the computer audio section too...

Flippin 'eck! my so called high endurance Transcend SD card has failed.....arrrrrgh! Its taken out my docker/portainer server, pihole and LMS....FFS a huge ball ache.

Thought I could get PiHole up and running quickly as I have my old standalone pihole RPi in a box, straight plugin and go I thought....but no, for some reason only the tech demons know it wont boot....the RPi is fine but the Sandisk SD card doesn't work, its only been in a box! Plugged both SD cards into my mac to see if they would respond but zilch, nothing...

Found a working Raspbian desktop image in my spares box so currently updating that then I can install PiHole.

The Transcend is still under warranty I think so I'll try to seek a replacement. I hate computers!

It's neat - essentially a Pi4 in a small keyboard, and the price is very reasonable too (about GBP 94 for the kit).

What's not to like?

following on from my post in June, I finally got around to installing a 7" touchscreen to the pi running picoreplayer.....

phwooaaarrr, wish I'd done this sooner, it's the bizz, and apart from the remote it's as good if not better than the classic squeezebox....
I've had to make up a support bracket for it as the supplied case didn't fit, but it's greeeat...

I have 2 itches that still need scratching:

The screen is very bright and lowering it would be an improvement
I need to investigate a remote receiver for the pi...to put the icing on the cake

one thing about Pi and picoreplayer I've noticed...If you're listening to the radio and turn the picoreplayer off the streaming carries on. I'm not sure for how long, or whether it's indefinite, but I noticed it when running the interface via the home plugs....the lights carry on flashing...way after I get bored watching them.

I guess if the sender is using UDP, and the client doesn't say to stop when powered down, then it will keep sending without knowing the client is not listening. The ARP table entry may eventually expire I guess.

Doh! I knew I shouldn't have mentioned it.......

I don't mind at all really, as long as it doesn't eat into my ISP cap

Why? Is there something about my replies that I am missing that is causing people to run screaming?
