with this fork are we still talking about 'anti Chinese
Probably not, but Jack posted here (just before I did, so I agree with the choice).

I thought they would have started with a lower NA but they are already at 0.33, with 13nm. Amazing - and only 4X reductions - so the masks have the sort of linewidths the IC's had in the previous generation... :confused3:
You read the list of problems, and wonder how it could possibly work !

Zeiss Optics from 3 years ago. I just passed this on to work address. Useful ammunition against production when they moan about having to find ways to reduce lens decentre below 20µm ...

As it happens... Many years ago I wrote a generic FFT application in C with selectable windowing functions for processing bat echolocation recordings. It was incredibly useful in unexpected ways...

At the time I was also an architect for one of the world's largest derivatives trading platforms at Euronext. My specialty was performance tuning of the core Connect trading system and the design and implementation of the market handling and implied trading system - both heavily multithreaded (2,000 threads) and supporting about 60,000 concurrent users. A nightmare to debug.

We had an intermittent performance issue that caused random trades to fall outside the 30mS settlement window and break the SLA - in everything that those huge Sun systems were doing, we couldn't catch what was happening.

So I got the sysadmins to capture dtrace CPU performance stats every 200mS - this is a very low impact activity, so Heisenberg wouldn't get too excited by it...

I then ran my FFT program over the many MB of data, looking for peaks that would identify repetitive behaviour in the system which also coincided with a slow trade, and sure enough there was an unexpected peak at 6 and a half minutes. Just looking at the data, it could be white noise, but an FFT can pull out unexpected presents :)

A search through the 100s of Cron jobs found only one with that interval and rewriting it solved the issue (it was sometimes doing stuff to a database in a silly way that was ok-ish in development, but not in a live environment).

FFT/DFTs etc. are really useful tools. Using a DSP to do real-time analysis of echolocation data is project I'm still doing to use AI to automatically identify bats when doing remote surveys.

There's a bit about all this on my web site.

Very neat. I am reminded of this, just to generate scope envy.

We did a lot of work with Solaflare and their X2 Ethernet adapters until Xilinx bought them out,,so very clever tech in there however I chuckled after watching Dave’s video and then reading the description of the X2 adapters

Glad you enjoyed, the whole history of the encabulator is a joy to read/watch too .

A work chum and I have started quoting parts of it when working on stuff in the labs. Heheheheh.

Glad to see even Keysight got in on the act on April 1st this year:
