I'm going to be on the Suffolk coast – not wanting to be smug or anything – but thus far, Met Office predicts 10 degrees cooler... 35°C in Boston .....

My birthday today, had plans to spend it with my beloved, unfortunately she contracted COVID, she's poorly but thankfully not too bad, so been having a few beers and playing some tunes. Quite enjoying these-

Happy birthday Ali.
Sorry to hear about the boss getting Covid, I hope she'll be over it quickly.

Just finished whiting out the insides of all the front windows and the door of the house. These are all south facing and normally get blasted by the sun all day long. Closing the curtains only works in a limited way because convection causes trapped air behind them to leak upwards and rise to the ceiling so creating a falling layer of hot air. Once equilibrium is reached the room gets hot. I’ve used thick lining paper, cut to each pane size and held in place with masking tape. The curtains will also be shut over them. Hopefully this paper will reflect the heat straight back out and prevent convection being set up. I did the bedroom window last evening and the there was no sign of any trapped hot air. The bedroom was cool for once. It’s now like the inside of a church in the house. We’ll see how effective this is over the next few days.
An additional benefit is gained, in that if a doodle bug happens to land nearby we’ll be safe from any glass shards if the windows are blown in.

Bought myself an old sega megadrive console.
Had one bought for christmas when they came out 30 odd years ago. For some reason i had all the wires and control pads and games from back then but not the console itself..
Its been very entertaining to play some of those old games and watch the kids get as frustrated as i did at sonic the hedgehog and chuck rock.
Then blast straight through them myself because i played them so many times as a kid that there is ingrained muscle memory
My sister wants to come round and play on it as soon as i mentioned id got it

Well, the window and glazed door ‘whiteout’ worked a treat. Lovely and cool in the house, today at least.

15 quid to visit Sutton Hoo and has to be pre-booked. Blurb says last year people were queuing up and the car park was full before midday.
