Nothing big, Phil . I have the two pairs of 2A3 outputs Bud made me ( you heard the Full-range level '2.5' ones on the KR300B amp at the weekend ) and Dave Slagle's amorphous-C-core 3K ones for 300B ( which I might sell ) .

Bud did mention that Erick hasn't used the level 1 transformers yet ....

If James's numbers are correct , I could probably trial this stuff with a pair of GK-71's through the Slagle outputs with the new shunt supply, turned-up a bit towards 500V . I think in the end , though , I'll be using copper GM70's and it would be worth forking out for some 'level 2' Bud ones as per above . I managed to claw back almost enough cash for these, from stuff I sold at Owston :D

Oh, I didn't mention that Bud and O-Netics may only be making audio stuff for about another 3 years .

Oh yes, Phil - what sort of problems did you have with the Coleman supplies for GM70 ?

Sounds like a huge amount of fun .

Well, what can I say - there's now zero chance that this amp won't get built :!:

I'n not so sure the copper GM-70 are much better than the carbon ones at lower voltages. :(

I tried some of Colin's spare ones (worn out ?) in my amp at 600v HT and could not tell any difference.

Perhaps Andrew can have another try and see if he can tell the difference in his amp ?

Oh very well... when I've finished parking the cars. I suppose you will want me to put my head in a bucket of water. I have one ready. I think you ought to know I'm feeling very depressed. It is time Anyway to hook down the 801amp and modify the phase splitter with Mr Lundahls finest in the 2A3amp but right now I'm listening to chic corea!

Actually I should probably focus on my push pull exploration. When the tube tester comes, see if I have 4 pieces close tolerance 45.

Pssssstttt.... Its a reference to HHGTTG Phil. Marvin the robot (with a brain the size of a planet) ends up in the car park (parking cars).

So many great quotes in a 4.11 clip.

Nice.

These Pentodes might bias up as triodes like 833a for all we know. Much cheaper than 833a's.[/url]

The filament wattage is a bit mightier than 833a.
