Strange clock !

Hi-i have a portable alarm clock which is regulated by the Rugby transmitter.

It has two "faults" !

1) it is (and always has been) exactly one minute fast.

2) When it changes the hour (summer/winter time) it always does it a day late !

Never heard of these problems with any other "Rugby " clocks.

Or does anyone else know otherwise.

Can't say for definite, but the time on my RDS CD/radio in the car was an hour out yesterday, but corrected to BST today. It may have corrected itself yesterday, late on, but I was not around to witness any changes.

It is correct now.

If you assume that Rugby is fixed in stone, so to speak, then the receiving part of your clock must be doing its job, but there must be the equivalent in the circuit of a trim-pot that needs tweaking to get the visible part of the clock to begin at the right time; i.e. not one minute behind.

I'm really impressed with my car clock, not realising the technology behind it I marvelled at how incredibly accurate it is - a kind and symapthetic friend told me why.

Hi-my video recorder has an automatic clock which i use that as my reference for all the household clocks (i've got lots !) and i think that does the changeover at 02.00.

I was expecting a "1st April wind up" response !

Dont really fancy taking the offending clock apart so i'll have to live with it i suppose.

Its me I know, but the irony of using penguins to in any way promote the iPlayer, given their refusal to use open protocols, has pissed me off more than you would believe.

i saw a flock of penguins in flight out of my window this morning. would they have been emigrating north or south ?

Since I started drying my herrings in the back garden, on Sunday, quite a few of the little treasures have called in here.

Smoking fish with overburdened, probably oscillaing, CCSs is a bit of a health hazard, as one of the pingos thoughfully concurred.
