#1 output transformers

Post by ed »

It would seem that the James 6123s have gone unobtanium at the bargain prices they used to be...anybody know if they've stopped making them??

The real question...has anybody tried the daburu potted c cores?? particularly with reference to inductance and bass response?

And where can you get Dubaru potted C cores from!?

I have a pair that I bought a couple of years ago and yes I like them a lot - better than James? tricky, and mine are only 5K nominally but they do do the business and I'd be happy to buy more...

like I need more output transformers;
like someone said in another place that I have 12 amplifiers (how he No?);
like I've counted;
like, or thus implying, I'm a jerk who can't make up his mind and obviously has cloth ears because having only one amplifier and being prepared to die in defence of its unique character and fuse employed and quality is the only way to be.

Like I care! :diabloanifire:

here be daburu, in amongst the dragons...

http://www.vt4c.com/shop/program/main.php?group_id=7

I didn't see any daburu c core in that comparison link Phil, am I missing something?

I'm very keen to try a pair of 5Ks cos I'm being a skinflint at the moment as I was visited by the sods law gremlin who recently stuffed one of my electrostat trannies(an unheard of failure!). As I cant get a match for the old one I've had to fork out for a new pair, and thats trashed my wallet..oh winge winge winge....

Ed

ps your link has screwed the formatting on the page Phil, have you tried tinyurl?

That reminds me - I knew about the VT4C site because some time last year I was looking for Dubaru (potted) C cores (which are what I have) and could only find what VT4C were selling.

I got mine from eBay but as above haven't been able to find them since.
