Unless I'm actually looking at your ear drums I couldn't possibly say. The way you describe it though does not sound dangerous. You've obviously done a good deal of googling and I'm sure you understand eustacian tube dysfunction so what would you like to do?

Well, my initial thoughts were to just wait and let it sort itself out.

Any form of action on my part is possibly unwise if I don't really know what the problem actually is. :?

OK I'll speculate.... it sounds like eustacian blag blah so they're all sticky and closed when they should be open - the pain has gone so no infection -popping your ears works for a while. All as expected so go on holiday in a nice hot place for a while. Pop over to Marrakesh for a glorious 2 weeks of joy and ( if your ears survive the plane flight) all will be well.

Does that make you feel better?

Of course, speaking with an expert always helps. :)

No I wasn’t going to impose that on you. I am still keeping faith in the NHS, but am contemplating going private if that will move things on, as my worry is if it’s left too long my brain will lose the ability to hear the higher frequencies (>6k)

At your age going private wont stop you loosing 6kHz and above. It just happens ... but costs the patient money rather than a) common sense or b) what your NHS Audiologist would tell you anyway.

Yes.

It's USB with variable brightness LEDs and 5.5mm in diameter.

It could also be used in other orifices.

Not sure if it has been mentioned here before, but can I encourage people to consider signing up for the NHS 'Future Health' study - I'm signed-up and I see they've just passed 1million participants.

Sorry, I couldn't resist!
