Only glanced at it up to now, but as always with Martin's work I sure it's worth reading, especially if you're into OBs.

I see he still subscribes to active xover.

Hi

I suppose I've always been into active bass and have taken my share of flak on the other place for it. But to me active bass and open baffles are just made for each other, unless, like Steve or Nick you can accommodate either 15 inch bass units or a pair of 12 inch drivers on a very big baffle. The 18 inch H frame bass system on Martin's baffles is a bit big for my room, but I'm hoping the active sub system I intend to build into my baffles will compensate for the lack of cubic inches.

The missus objected strongly to the double twelve inch driver arrangement I was proposing on the other thread so it was back to the drawing board I'm afraid.

I've got something interesting under way at the 'mo but you'll have to wait 'til Owston to see it.

He does say that you could use 15" bass drivers for a small WAF improvement, the only penalty being that you might lose the very bottom 2 or 3 Hz.
"Its good enough for Government work."
